GOLDEN ANGEL

Golden Angel

Oil on Irish Linen with Gold Leaf (27" x 23")

The landscape where ‘Golden Angel’ resides is an internal cave, dribbled washes of sienna, umber and red earth colored oil paints suggesting stalagmites within a cave.

Although she is buried, there is part of her that has the beginnings of being exposed to the light, as the gold on her wings is able to shimmer bright suggests.

The gold she brings with her is one of flight. She has gathered her gold as wings, so she will be free to fly.

I use gold leaf within my work to suggest something precious within us, something that remains true and pure but sometimes we bury it to protect it.

Golden Angel is about survival from burial and rising from a situation using something precious and true within and using that as her wings to fly and move on.
